Am planning to try out Dr. Ruhi Sali as well. Shes on chandivali road really close to nahar . so incase of emergencies etc i should know more than just one doc.

Well, both my baby and me really like her. shes' a very friendly doc who gave me a LOT of time!! both my visits, so far have been over 25 mins... and that too of just chatting ...
she asked his entire routine ...wake up time, to what he eats drinks , whether the water is boiled ,words he says, games he plays ...etc...
i was thrilled .. being a first time mommy one is always unsure of whether everything my kid is doing is right, age appropriate and more importantly what i am doing is ok!!
she was very re assuring!
oh ya ..another positive ... the waiting time was five mins during my first visit and she was already there when i reached for my second appt ..
so iam not gonna complain !!!:))

Want to share my experience with Ramesh Iyer.
I visited Dr Ramesh Iyer when my baby (6.5 months) was having loose motions. He prescribed a medicine and next day was sunday. There was no improvement with atleast 15 times motion on sunday. I rushed to same doc on Monday morning. He prescribed another medicine and said it will take 2 more days. Still no improvement until Tuesday afternoon. And then my little baby got stomach ache, very badly at 4pm... : (
I rushed to doc at 5.30pm hoping doc be in by then... I was scolded by his assistant for not taking appointment...I requested her and next pateinet in queue.... Then I was scolded by doctor himself for breaking the queue... My baby was not crying for those few minutes, he said, why did u break the queue when ur baby is not crying at all?he kept baby on bench and said let's see if he cries.... TOOOOO RUDE of him.....
My baby cried so badly as soon as he was lie down.....
Then he was happy seeing him crying and gave colicaid....
He has very bad attitude towards emergency and charges are also too high...He charged again 300/- for each visit of same treatment...He doesnt share his mobile, you hv to visit his clinic....
I heard good reviews about Dr Meena Narayan, in same building 1st floor.... She is calm, understands you and has right attitude...

I have been going to him for 2 years and never really had any undesirable experience. In fact he has been thoroughly courteous and careful with my daughter.

Hi Nidhi, It's good that Dr Ramesh Iyer's medicines suits your baby....
What I didnt like about him:
(1) His medicines didnt suit my baby and had to visit 3 times in 3 days...That too for common illness "loose motion"....
(2) He is incapable of handling emergency cases...and panic first time parents...
(3) His very RUDE and bad attitude....
My baby was cured by Dr Bijal finally...
In future, Dr Bijal and Dr Meena, will stick to these two only....Both are very nice and has gentle approach towards baby and panic parents...

I've tried so many gud doctors e.g. Dr Sanjiv Ahuja, Dr Ramesh Iyyer, Dr. Meena, Dr Sonu Dani.
& Finally I'm with Dr Meena only. I trusted her even with 106 yes 106 high fever of my 2 yr old son. See how much I trust her. She is not at all after money making business. You can find her clinic a bit not very stylish, a long Q of patients... but she is really very gud. She gives more than enough time. A doctor who takes away all your worries... Rare to find such a gud doctor.
yes, i agree with what VP said earlier. Dr. Meena is a rare doctor who talks to you, understands where you are coming from and has the best interest of the child in mind. I am so grateful I discovered her and have been with her all through out the past 6 years. I moved cities but she takes my calls of distress even at odd hours. not at all money minded, can give you hours of her time if you need reassurance- is a gem of a person.

I have a daughter who is 8 months old and we have been seeing Dr. Uday Nadkarni in Sevenhills. He is a wonderful doctor, very practical, experienced and also reassuring. He will calm you down if u r in panic and will always answer your calls even at odd hours.
And whenever u go to hospital, u will always found him there...

I have been in Chennai all my life and moving to Mumbai will be a new experience. I have two young kids and I have a nanny here. How easy is it to find a nanny and a cook in Powai?
My son's school is near Mukteshwar Ashram. Can you suggest the names of areas around there where we need to be looking out for rental? And, what's the average rental in the area currently?

Welcome to Mumbai...and I am sure you will love it here. I have stayed in Chennai too (Nungambakkam) for a year and a half.
Here are the answers to your queries, hope it helps. :)
1. Finding maids is not a problem though it might be a little more expensive here than in Chennai. Also, there are fixed rates in most societies. Generally its approximately rs. 500 per job and rs. 2000 for cooking One time.
2. You can rent in Powai, chandivali, Societies such as Lake Homes, Nahar Amrit Shakti, Raheja, synchronicity, Palatial Heights, Hiranandani are nice and around maximum 30 mins from the school location.
As per my knowledge - 2 BHK should range from 25000 - 30000 and 3 bhk should be around 30000 - 450000 depending on the society, area, location etc.

I just had a baby hence, have been on a blog break but this blog is pretty active and has relevant information. Also, we try to respond to any queries (to the best of my knowledge) as and when any query arrives.
Very soon, all posts will be updated as well as new ones will be added - but currently just a lil' tied up being a parent to my Baby No.2 :)

I agree to previous comments that approach & attitude of Dr Ramesh Iyer is not upto mark.
I went to him to show my son during high fever, vomit, loose motions etc and he changed medicines twice and even then there was no relief. We then consulted family physician back in Jaipur for feedback and then after 3 days there was some respite.
Further Dr Iyer is rude to family members. After seeing small children he will ask one of the parent / elder to go out with child and then discuss just with one parent. Way too rude.
I will visit Dr Meena next time and then share my feedback.
I too heard Dr. Bijal is very good. I have a newborn son and were assigned yogesh Mehta but the reviews from others havent been good. Can someone share their experience? ?

I've been in Mumbai close to 18 years now.
(I'm 22 now, FYI)
He's been a FANTASTIC doctor all those years of my pediatric care. To date, he recollects details from illnesses I had 15 years ago, accident scars, panicking over school exams etc. He's VERY polite, extremely coordial. Best of all he is strict with parents when needed for the child.
I did visit Dr. Meena for my cousin, in his absence, and was quite disappointed. She seemed more interested in banal chit-chat than actually taking care.
Honestly, I do not agree with this blog. I have visited Dr. Iyer in the past for my kids. He doesn't spend more than 3 minutes with one child and doesn't have a friendly behaviour. Never tries dt console the parent and child. Also he never tries to understand n discuss child's behavioral aspect. Feels as if he is interested in covering more patients rather than understanding one child's problem. Not a friendly behaviour at all. Do not recommend.

I have visited doctors in seven hills, I have visited doctors in hiranandani hospital, but no one is ready to hear you out or spend time with the kid. Dr. Uday Nadkarni, who is available from 2:00 pm to 8:00pm, Monday to Saturday at Nahar Medical Centre is one such doctor, who spends atleast 20 mins with each patient. He is experienced , has thorough knowledge, gives the correct medicine, doesnot rely on antibiotics,has his cellphone number mentioned on his prescription, always available on Whatsapp. No one can be better than him. And since he spends time with each kid atleast for 15-20 mins, so of course the wait time is more. But it is worth the wait. I am a mother of a 9 month old, who has been in the ICU with neonatal jaundice. And had Dr. Nadkarni been not there to guide us, then we would have been in a sorrow state by now.
I had a good experience with Dr Iyer. He was patient, sensible and understanding. He helped us understand the problem, which was a rare complication, and explained the solution very patiently. Three days later, also spoke with me on the phone and advised additional medication. Highly recommend!
